ControlBoard and Sage 300 CRE

ControlBoard® works beside Sage 300 CRE by file. Your cost codes, scopes (Sage’s Extras) and job-to-date cost by cost code and category come in from Sage’s own job-cost export, so job cost in ControlBoard starts from the balance your accounting team closed. Sage 300 CRE stays the system of record for cost, pricing and billing. After the week is approved, ControlBoard produces a units-only labor distribution file: hours and standard items by job, scope, cost code and day, for Sage to price and rebill.

What flows where

Your system keeps the money. ControlBoard runs the work.

Cost codes and balances whenever you send a new export, usually after each period close. The labor distribution file for each approved pay period.

Sage 300 CRE

Cost codes, rates, the rate table that prices standard items, billing and the ledger. The file carries units, never money.

ControlBoard®

Schedules the labor and equipment, tells the field, collects the hours and keeps job cost and the forecast live.

Getting connected

  1. Send us Sage 300 CRE’s job-cost export; we load it and check the totals with you.

  2. Say which closed period the balances run through.

  3. We turn on the labor distribution file for your company.

  4. Each pay period, approve the week and hand the file to accounting.

Sage’s cost code, its Extra and its cost category each have a place in ControlBoard, so nothing is reshaped to fit. Money that ControlBoard records after the close is shown apart from the ledger balance and replaced when the next balance arrives.

Common questions

Does ControlBoard price our rebilling?
No. The labor distribution file sends units only. Sage 300 CRE prices each standard item from your own rate table, so billing stays where it is.
How does ControlBoard handle Extras?
An Extra becomes a scope of the job, with its own cost codes and its own cost to date, so scheduled work, time and cost stay inside it.
Can the same week also go to payroll?
Yes. The same approved week can produce the labor distribution file for Sage and a payroll file, such as Paychex Flex’s, from one approval.
