The ControlBoard API
The ControlBoard® API lets your own software load jobs, customers, cost codes, people, equipment, needs, the
schedule and time entries, and read them back, instead of uploading the import workbook. Every load runs the
same checks and matching as the workbook and lands in the same import history. A live feed reports every
change as it happens. Your system stays the record for what it sends. The API is $110 a month per company,
with a published schema your developers code against.

Your administrator creates a key for a named service user, with only the access it needs.
Your developer tries each load as a dry run, then sends for real.
Common questions
How is an API key kept safe?
A key is shown once and stored only as a hash. It acts as a named service user, holds only the access it is given, expires within a year, can be limited to your own addresses and is revoked at once.
Can we tell what the API changed?
Yes. Everything a key writes is recorded under its service user’s name, and every load is in the import history with its counts and errors.
Do we need the API to connect QuickBooks or Sage?
No. The connectors and payroll files come with the subscription. The API is for your own software, or a system with no connector of its own.
