Electrical contractors

Electricians, licences and service calls on one board

ControlBoard® schedules an electrical contractor’s electricians, apprentices, crews, vans and subcontractors across long projects and many small jobs on one board. A service call taken in the morning becomes a job on today’s schedule without leaving the day’s view, and the electrician gets it on ControlBoard Field. Licences and certifications are kept with their expiry dates, and jobs where someone scheduled lacks a card the job needs are flagged. A labor forecast by trade shows whether you have the people for the work ahead. Approved hours leave as a payroll file.

Sound familiar?

Forty small jobs this week, and every one needs a licensed journeyman.

A service call comes in at 8 and the board is already printed.

A licence lapsed last month and nobody noticed until the inspector did.

The big job starts in March, and we do not know if we have the people.

A day on ControlBoard

The day, from the yard to the pay week

7:00 AM

Take the call, book the work

The scheduler takes a service call on the day’s view by the hour, adds it as a job, and books the nearest free electrician. The change reaches the field at once.

Dispatch board: machine moves planned by date and time, with where each one goes next

7:15 AM

The right card on the job

With the Equipment and compliance module, a booking where the person lacks a licence or certificate the job needs is flagged, and cards about to lapse show in one queue.

Service plans by calendar or engine hours, for each kind of equipment

4:00 PM

Hours from the van

Electricians punch in and out on ControlBoard Field or type their hours, against the job and cost code. Photos and notes from the job are filed with it.

Month end

Will we have the people?

Each project manager forecasts labor hours by trade. The company labor plan adds them up against the people you have, so a shortage shows months ahead, in time to hire or shift work.

Common questions

Is ControlBoard good for electrical contractors with many small jobs?
Yes. The day’s view shows every booking by the hour, and a new job or service call can be added there without leaving it. The person booked gets the change on ControlBoard Field, by text or by email. The same board holds long projects, so the scheduler sees service work and project crews together and spots a person scheduled twice at once.
Can ControlBoard check electrician licences before a job?
With the Equipment and compliance module, yes. Each person carries licences and certificates from the company’s own list, with expiry dates and proof. The compliance queue shows what has lapsed or is about to, and flags jobs where someone scheduled lacks a qualification the job needs, so the scheduler swaps people before the crew leaves the shop.
How does ControlBoard forecast electrical labor?
A project manager spreads the job’s labor hours or heads by trade, crew or cost code across its working days. The company labor plan adds every job’s forecast against the people you employ and the work already scheduled, by job or by trade, so a shortage of journeymen shows while there is still time to hire.
