Equipment and compliance

How does ControlBoard® track tools and who has them?

ControlBoard’s tool crib shows where every tool and checkout material is right now: with a person, on a job, in a truck or gang box, or at a yard. Scan a tag to check a tool out, and returns go back to the tool’s own yard. Each tool keeps a trail of everywhere it has been, and overdue or away-from-home tools stand out. Field workers ask the crib for tools from ControlBoard Field, and the crib hands them over or sends them to the job. Counts of a yard, truck or job find what is missing and propose losses for the office to accept.

What you can do with it

  • Check tools out and back in

Common questions

Can field workers request tools from their phone?
Yes. On ControlBoard Field a worker lists what they need, by when and where it should go, and sends it to the crib. The crib sees every tool that fits and where it is now, then hands it over or sends it to the job. If a request is declined, the worker reads why.
Can I count tools in a truck or gang box?
Yes. Start a count for a yard, a truck or box, or a job, then scan each tool there. ControlBoard lists what should be there and is not yet counted. Posting the count moves found tools to that place and keeps missing ones flagged until they turn up.
Can ControlBoard tell me where a tool has been?
Yes. Every tool keeps its trail: each person, job, truck and yard it has passed through. Tools away from their home yard are listed together, and a tool that now lives somewhere new can be given that place as its home.
