Time and payroll

How does ControlBoard® handle time off requests from the field?

With ControlBoard, field workers ask for time off from ControlBoard Field and get a notification with the answer. The office sees each request with how many of those days the person is already scheduled, so it decides with the schedule in view. Requests can be approved, approved for fewer days or hours, or denied with a note, one at a time or several together. Requests also show on the schedule boards, and count for nothing until they are approved. Approving never removes anyone from the schedule, so the scheduler stays in control of the change.

What you can do with it

  • Approve or deny time off requests
  • Decide a request from the schedule
  • Enter time off for someone

Used by: administrators, accounting, managers

Common questions

Can workers request vacation from their phone?
Yes. On ControlBoard Field a worker picks the dates or part of a day, a reason and an optional note. They can change or cancel the request until it is decided, and they get a notification with the answer.
Does approving time off take someone off the schedule?
No. Approving never removes a person from the schedule. The office sees how many of the requested days the person is already scheduled and moves those assignments itself, so the decision and the schedule change both stay with people who know the job.
Can the office enter time off for someone?
Yes. The office adds time off directly on a person’s record, and marks a machine out of service the same way. A period that has already ended is locked, and only administrators and accounting can change it, so past records stay as they were.
