Time and payroll

How does ControlBoard® control who can enter time for whom?

ControlBoard lets you decide who enters time for whom, so timekeepers and supervisors keep hours for the people they oversee and no one else. A scope names the jobs, people and kinds of resource a user may enter time for, and it can run for a set period. Without a scope, a person enters only their own time, and a foreman enters time for the crew they lead. Administrators, accounting and managers already reach every job and person. Clear, dated scopes keep payroll clean and make it plain who is answerable for each line of time.

Common questions

Can a foreman enter time for their crew without extra setup?
Yes. A foreman with no scope enters time for the crew they lead. They can also put crew members and equipment on an overhead job on their crew days and, where your company allows it, enter the crew’s own fuel, material and hauling on days they already cover.
Can a timekeeper enter time for several jobs?
Yes. Give the timekeeper a scope that lists the jobs, people and kinds of resource they cover; an empty list means all of them. The scope can start and end on set dates, and removing it returns the person to entering only their own time.
Does a scope limit managers and accounting?
No. Administrators, accounting and managers already reach every job and person, so a scope does not narrow what they can do. Scopes are for supervisors, timekeepers and others who should enter time for a defined group.
