Job cost
How does ControlBoard® let me explore my company's numbers over time?
ControlBoard’s metrics explorer shows your company’s numbers as a grid and a chart over time, from the same records
the schedule and the time sheets create. Break the numbers down by job, resource type, cost code or other levels, then
drill from one level into the next to find where the hours or the cost went. Choose the time grain, from days to
years, and narrow it by division, job, job status or kind of resource. Totals add up, and numbers with no detail at a
level are kept so nothing goes missing. Export the result to Excel, CSV or PDF, or send it without leaving the page.
What you can do with it
- Explore your company's numbers over time
- Drill into any row
- Export or print the grid and chart

Common questions
Can I drill down from a company total to a single job?
Yes. Start at the company total and open one level at a time, such as job, then resource type, then cost code. A
trail of the levels you opened lets you step back up. Numbers with no value at a level are kept in their own line,
so the totals stay honest and you can see where data is thin.
Can I roll cost codes up to their top level?
Yes. When you break the numbers down by cost code, ControlBoard can add each code into its top-level code or show
every code as it was charged. A controller reads the summary and a project manager reads the detail from the same
view.
Can I export or send a metrics report?
Yes. The grid exports to Excel, CSV or PDF, and the chart downloads as a picture or a PDF. Either can be sent by
email, text or in-app message straight from the page, so the people who need the numbers get exactly what you see.
