Scheduling

How does ControlBoard® track what each job needs in labor, equipment and material?

ControlBoard lists what every job needs, people, equipment and material, and when. A need can run by hours over time or by quantity, and it can be worked out from a takeoff and a production rate, so the schedule follows the estimate. Needs count only the job’s working days and skip company holidays. Each need can carry a price, from the rate card to a lump sum, required qualifications, a priority and whether it must be filled. A need is filled when scheduled work covers it, never by hand, so open needs always show what is really left to staff.

Common questions

Can a need be planned from a takeoff quantity?
Yes. Enter the takeoff quantity, the production rate per day and the hours per day, and ControlBoard works out how many days the need takes. If the need also has start and end dates, the dates win.
How does ControlBoard know when a need is filled?
A need is filled once the people or equipment scheduled against it cover its days. Nobody marks it filled by hand, so the open needs list is always true. Cancelled needs drop out of the count but stay on record.
Can a need require certain qualifications?
Yes. Each need can name the qualifications it requires, a priority from critical down to lowest, and whether it must be filled. The most important open needs come first, so schedulers staff the hardest work before the rest.
